This week, Brussels requested the Trade and Cooperation Agreement remains only provisionally applied until at least April 30 due to holdups in its attempts to translate the document into the bloc’s more than 20 languages.

But news of the delay has sparked outrage among Express.co.uk readers with many telling the Government to ban “all EU imports” until they “sort themselves out”.

One reader said: “Pathetically weak.

“Boris you need to up your game, they are laughing at us.

“You need to rip it all up and go WTO.

“The EU will have no hold over us then.

“And get ALL our bloody fish back.”

A second said: “The deal is null and void as they have to ratify by the terms of the deal.

“Tell the EU to take as long as they like as it’s no deal.

“Clear all your boats out of our waters and take all your EU citizens back.

“That will solve the housing crisis.”

A third person said: “They have found time to ban our produce and muck around at the border.

“Boris should be banning all EU imports until they sort themselves out.

“EU = utter shambles.”

Someone else simply called for the Prime Minister to “rip up the” Withdrawal Agreement and go with the World Trade Organisation agreement.

Another added: “By then some of our trade deals with out of EU countries should be in motion and with some hope Boris will rip up the EU one.

“We don’t need continued rubbish from them anymore.”

While someone else said: “The EU didn’t hesitate to delay in banning shellfish etc etc.

“It’s time our government took the gloves off and knocked this bunch of crooks out of the ring completely.”

A Government spokesman expressed “disappointment” at the EU’s failure to prepare for the European Parliament to vote on the pact by the previously agreed deadline, February 28.

They said: “Today we have agreed to extend the deadline for the EU to ratify the deal until 30 April.

“It is disappointing the EU has not completed its internal processes in the agreed timeframe, given the uncertainty, it creates for businesses and individuals on both sides.

“We expect the EU to meet the new timeline.”

Lord Frost, the PM’s chief negotiator, had previously questioned the EU’s move to delay the full ratification.
