Mr Johnson’s future is on a knife-edge as allegations of lockdown-breaking parties at Downing Street continue to dominate the headlines. During PMQs last Wednesday, the Prime Minister apologised for the parties, stating: “I want to apologise. I know that millions of people across this country have made extraordinary sacrifices over the last 18 months. “I know the anguish they have been through – unable to mourn their relatives, unable to live their lives as they want or to do the things they love.“I know the rage they feel with me and with the Government, I lead when they think in Downing Street itself the rules are not being properly followed by the people who make the rules. And though I cannot anticipate the conclusions of the current inquiry, I have learned enough to know there were things we simply did not get right and I must take responsibility.”

However, many people believe Mr Johnson’s apology was not enough.

Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer has repeatedly called for the Prime Minister to resign, arguing that he is “unfit to lead”.

Moreover, the leader of the Liberal Democrats, Sir Ed Davey has called on more than 2,500 Liberal Democrat Councillors to table no-confidence motions in Boris Johnson.

Sir Ed told Express.co.uk: “Conservative councillors must make clear where they stand, with Boris Johnson a disgraced Prime Minister, or with local residents who are rightly furious about this scandal.

“We have an army of thousands of Liberal Democrat councillors working hard for their communities.

“They’re listening to local residents who are saying that Boris Johnson must do the right thing and resign.”

However, many Express.co.uk leaders are still backing the Prime Minister.

Wilma Fingerdoo said: “The high ups have never wanted Boris in charge…

“They hate the fact that he went along with the democratic process when he got us out of the cesspit EU…

“You only have to think back to how most politicians tried their damnedest to stop the democratic referendum results.

“Boris not only got us out of the EU…

“He was also the first to think forward when the pandemic hit…

“He initiated the vaccination programme before anyone else, to try and keep us all safe.

“Boris is also well known for being a good listener to all sides of an argument and being a good person to work for, rather than being dictatorial.

“No:10 is an office block full of civil servants, not all of whom are Conservative…

“Civil servants who also did their damnedest to stop the democratic process when we voted to leave the cesspit EU…
” They are more than likely to be the ones causing all of these problems, on purpose…

“Just to create trouble for the Government!”

Marzipan! said: “Yes he’s made mistakes but he saw us through the last two years and the vaccination programme.

“Sunak will be a big mistake and he will let Labour in worse than Boris.

“Obviously I’m a Tory and I’ll never vote Labour but I won’t vote for Sunak either.”

MichaelStevens added: “We know he has made some stupid mistakes, but who among us is perfect, and we never expected a pandemic to hit us so bad, better the devil you know, than Starmer the terrible.”
