Anorexic Instagram influencer dies in arms of friend aged just 24

A social media influencer has died of heart failure aged just 24 after sharing her battle with anorexia.

Josi Maria was just 24-years-old when she lost her life following years of struggle against the debilitating disease.

Ms Maria, from Kiel in north Germany, passed away while on a holiday to Gran Canaria in Spain with friends when her heart gave out.

The Instagram star had tragically shared her fear that she would lose her life to her eating disorder disease just days before she passed away.

Ms Maria had posted: “I don't want to be one in 10 who die from anorexia.”

Explaining her own battle with the disease, she wrote: “Anorexia is not a matter of weight, but of the head!

“That it is not always just the will to be thin, but that there is much more to it: performance, confirmation, control.

“And that it is an uphill battle to go against it, to gain weight, to find joy in life again.”

German news website DE24 reported on Ms Maria’s death last week.

On the flight over, it is believed she was suffering from circulatory problems.

She fell asleep in her friend's arms after getting to Gran Canaria and "never woke up".

Ms Maria’s mother paid tribute to her online, writing: “You were an angel on earth.

"For your fight against this serious illness, we admired you to the last and still had to watch helplessly as you lost this fight.”
