Armed man shot dead by police in Weld County
A man was shot dead by police Saturday morning in a subdivision near Fort Lupton.
About 8:40 a.m., the Weld County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a “disturbance with weapons,” according to a news release.
Multiple law enforcement agencies responded to the Aristocrat Ranchettes after a woman called 911 and said that an armed man was preventing her from leaving a residence and that the man was threatening “to kill her,” the release said.
Law enforcement officials arrived and found an armed man outside of a house. They ordered the suspect to drop the weapon. “After several minutes of interacting with the suspect,” the man was shot by police.
The suspect, described as a 60-year-old man, died at the scene. The shooting is being investigated by the 19th Judicial District.
