Body found in burning home near Colorado Springs – The Denver Post

COLORADO SPRINGS — An investigation is underway after a person was found dead in a burning home near Colorado Springs.

KKTV reports a neighbor called 911 at about 2:30 a.m. Monday after seeing flames shooting out of the roof of the Security home. It took firefighters about 45 minutes to get the blaze under control, and smoke was still pouring out of the home three hours later.

Firefighters found the body during a secondary search while still battling the fire. The victim’s name and age have not been released.

A dog that reportedly lived at the home has not been found, although it’s unclear if it was there at the time of the fire.

The blaze destroyed the roof and caused additional damage elsewhere. Investigators are trying to determine what caused the fire.
