Boris Johnson is to address the nation after a chaotic day of border closures following a mutated British-born Covid strain.
The PM will take to the usual podium at Downing Street only 48 hours after he threw hoards of Brits into his newly-invented Tier Four.
Boris was forced to cancel Christmas for millions of households in the south east of England on Saturday night.
The promised relaxation period over Christmas was practically scrapped, with families being allowed only one day to mix in Tiers One, Two and Three.
In Tier Four, which was created on Saturday, mixing indoors is banned.
It comes after a mutated strain of coronavirus was found spreading through the South East and across England.
The highly-infectious version of the bug is thought to be just as deadly but 70% more contagious.
Boris will take to the podium at about 5pm as usual, according to reports, following a day of chaotic scenes on the south coast.
France closed its borders with Britain to avoid being struck with the mutated strain – but sparked fears of breaking the supply chain of goods only days before Christmas.
