Dead influencer’s lifeless body ‘mistaken for naked doll’ as it lay on roadside

A dead influencer found on the side of a road was initially mistaken for a mannequin, a sanitation worker who made the gruesome discovery has claimed.

John Richardson, who works in sanitation for the city of Houston, Texas, said he received a call from a worker driving a garbage truck who said he "saw a body or a mannequin."

His colleague refused to stop "because he was scared" and asked Richardson to come and "check it out" with him.

The pair met up and saw Alexis Sharkey’s feet before realising she was laying there deceased with no clothes on.

Richardson said he had no idea it was missing influencer Alexis, who vanished over Thanksgiving after reportedly having a fight with her husband, Tom Sharkey.

He told news station KHOU: "He said he thought he’d saw a body or a mannequin. He wasn’t too sure.

"He wasn’t going to stop because he was scared or whatever the case may be, so he asked me to come out there to check it out.

"When we were driving, we could see the feet.

"We got out and looked, and there it was. She was laying there deceased, no clothes on."

Richardson said he immediately called 911 and admitted finding Alexis haunted him for more than a week.

He said: "I just got on the phone, and I called 911.

"It plays back in my head. It’s been playing back in my head every day."

An investigation is under way to determine the cause of Alexis' death and no arrests have been made.

Alexis' husband has denied any marital rift and claims he's cooperating with detectives.

He said he feels confident the Houston Police Department is "going to find everyone that was involved."

Her mum, Stacey Robinault, told KPRC she believes foul play was involved, stating: "The way in which she was found — my child would never do that to herself.

"That doesn’t even make sense. That is absolutely foul play."
