Denver weather: Warmer temperatures return to Denver on first day of fall

After a single day of brisker weather and a frost warning for part of the state Wednesday morning, temperatures will return to the 80s in Denver as fall officially begins.

Temperatures could reach a high of 83 degrees Wednesday and a slight breeze could begin in the afternoon, according to the National Weather Center in Boulder. Before the temperatures rises, however, forecasters warned people Wednesday morning to protect delicate plants as frost is likely in low-lying valley areas along the Platte and Poudre river valleys. The frost warning lasts until 8 a.m.

Skies are expected to stay sunny all week and temperatures will generally rise as the weekend approaches. Temperatures will likely reach the high 80s on Saturday and Sunday.

Weather in the central mountains near Vail will also be sunny, with highs in the low 70s for the rest of the week.
