Girl pleads guilty to murdering Uber driver after car dragged him into fence
A 15-year-old girl has pleaded guilty to the murder of an Uber Eats driver in a horrifying collision after stealing his car.
Mohammad Anwar, 66, died on March 23 after the attack in Washington DC, the US.
The Pakistani immigrant was delivering food in a grey sedan when the child and another 13-year-old girl – said to be her accomplice – got in.
A struggle broke out with the children, who were armed with a taser, police said.
In horrifying footage, Mr Anwar could he heard shouting “they’re thieves” before trying to pull one of the girls out of the driver’s seat.
The car then accelerated down the street and smashed into a metal fence as Mr Anwar clung to the door.
He was rushed to hospital but was tragically pronounced dead after suffering several broken bones and severe head trauma.
The 15-year-old pleaded guilty to the murder at a court in Washington DC on May 5, The Washington Post reports.
In a plea deal, the charges of armed carjacking, robbery and aggravated reckless driving were dropped by the court.
She will be sentenced on June 4 and is set to serve a maximum of six years in a juvenile facility.
The second girl will appear in court on May 17 and has yet to enter a plea.
She cannot face charges or sentencing as an adult and is expected to be offered a plea deal.
