Hilarious moment reporter’s pet dog leaps into shot during live broadcast

A journalist has been upstaged by his adorable pet dog during a live broadcast.

The hilarious moment was captured on camera when 9 News reporter Tony Jones discussed the grand final of Australian Football League at Melbourne Cricket Ground in Australia.

As he is about to sign off the segment, Today Show presenters Allison Langdon and Karl Stefanovic asked about the yapping sound they could hear in the background.

The camera then zooms in to reveal Tony's pet cavoodle, Archie, sitting just by his feet.

Tony tells the presenters: "I think you might have been talking about this little fella here, who comes with me on most jobs.

"We are back on the Today Show Archie, do you remember?"

The adorable pooch gets excited as soon as he realised Tony is watching and talking to him.

He jumps up instantly and leaps on to Tony's lap as he is enjoying the moment in the limelight.

Tony looks at his beloved pet and says: "Do you remember last year? Do you remember last year? We had so much fun. We are back now.

"I know, it's exciting, isn't it. Now, remember what I told you in the car, it's Karl and Ally.

"Do you remember? Yeah, I know, it's exciting."

The television hosts are left in stitches in the studio as they watch it live on air.

This is not Archie's first appearance on the TV station's breakfast show.

The brown pooch was often seen on the camera when Tony was a presenter on the morning programme before he quit late last year.
