The presidential hopefuls clashed on Wednesday in what was the first presidential debate of the 2020 US election. Just two days later, President Trump, 74, and his wife Melania Trump, 50, tested positive for the coronavirus. The announcement comes after Hope Hicks, a close aide to the President, also tested positive for COVID-19.
Ms Hicks travelled alongside President Trump on Air Force to Wednesday’s debate in Ohio.
President Trump’s physician Sean Conley has confirmed in a statement the President and his wife “are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.”
In an official statement, he said: “Rest assured I expect the president to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments.”
The news has now raised concerns about the health of his 77-year-old Democrat rival, Mr Biden.
This is breaking news. More to follow…
