Man ‘beat wife to death in front of daughters while on anniversary cruise’
A Utah man who brutally murdered his wife during a cruise to Alaska has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Kenneth Manzanares pleaded guilty to the second-degree murder of Kristy in February after he killed his partner while the two were on the Emerald Princess cruise ship.
The high-school sweethearts were celebrating their wedding anniversary in the summer of 2017 with their three daughters and extended family when they got into an argument over his behaviour that evening.
Their dispute quickly turned into a savage attack where Kenneth beat his wife to death, causing severe head injuries which ultimately killed her.
The father had told his kids to leave the room prior to the attack but they witnessed him beat her to death from the connected balcony.
According to CNN, Kristy's brothers saw him drag his wife's body toward the balcony before he grabbed her ankles and pulled her back into the cabin.
When security arrived, they attempted to save the mum but were unsuccessful.
A key witness allegedly asked Kenneth what happened and he attempted to justify his savage killing by saying "she wouldn't stop laughing at me."

Acting US Attorney Bryan Wilson of the District of Alaska. said: "This was not a random act of violence but chilling neglect for human life for which he will serve 30 years in federal prison, where there is no parole ever.
"While today's sentence will not bring Kristy back to her family and friends, we hope it provides a sense of justice for this heinous crime and brings some closure to those who knew and cared about her."
Anchorage FBI Special Agent Robert Britt added: "No excuse can justify the savagery committed by this man, who will now spend the next three decades behind bars.

Manzanares was arrested and has remained in federal custody since his arrest in 2017.
Kristy's cousin Kasey Hunt paid tribute to her in People Magazine saying she "had a glow to her, and filled a room with life," adding, "She was so damn nice to everyone, she was amazing."
