Man unaware he had knife lodged in his chest 14 months after stabbing by teens
A man has had a knife lodged in his body for more than a year after being stabbed – and he had no idea it was there.
Kent Ryan Tomao, 36, was stabbed by a group of teenagers in Kidapawan City, Philippines, last January.
Coconuts Manila report that he was taken to hospital for treatment, but doctors simply stitched up the wound and gave him painkillers rather than X-raying him.
It means he has had a four-inch (10cm) blade lodged inside his body next to his rib cage ever since – just inches away from piercing his lung.
Mr Tomao said he occasionally felt pain in his chest when the weather was cold, but it was not severe enough to seek medical assistance.

He said: “I just waited for the pain to pass. I had no idea there is a knife in my chest.
“Now I’m relieved that I know the real problem.”
The snapped-off blade was only discovered after Mr Tamao underwent a pre-employment medical test for a new job, and the knife was clearly visible on an X-ray.
He said that he doesn't want to sue the hospital who originally treated him, but is hoping that they will remove the metal blade for free as he cannot afford to pay for the operation.
He said: “The doctors did not check my wounds properly last year so I believe they are partly at fault about what happened.
“They should fix this.
“I will not press charges, I just want them to remove the knife so I can start working in my new company.”
