Man who ‘wanted to look cool in front of children’ accused of raping girl, 11

A suspected paedophile accused of raping an 11-year-old girl reportedly told police he wanted to look “cool and awesome” in front of children.

Damian Devore, 19, picked the victim up in Wichita Falls, Texas, US after meeting her through the Snapchat app, it is claimed.

He collected her from her grandparents’ home in October 2019 before taking her to a dark area near some bushes where he attacked her, police say.

The girl had told him she was too young but he allegedly started to assault her, the Metro reports.

She begged him to stop and said she was in pain but he carried on the attack, it is claimed.

He is said to have then taken her back to her home before leaving in his car.

Before the attack she told him she was 11 while he claimed to be 15, US media reported.

Devore has also been accused of molesting three other children the following month.

He allegedly groomed an underage girl he met on Snapchat, before asking to visit a house where she was staying with two pals.

Devore gave the three youngsters booze and got them to perform sex acts, according to police.

A number of parents are said to have turned up after the alleged assault and started beating Devore.

One girl reportedly said later she blacked out after being plied with the alcohol.

Devore claimed in a police interview he gave the youngsters drink in a bid to look "cool and awesome" in front of them, according to reports.

He is said to have told one officer: "I gave them alcohol because I wanted to look cool in front of them."

Devore has been held in custody since he was charged in July 2020.

US media report Devore faces the rest of his life behind bars if he is found guilty.

He appeared in court last week after failing to have his $150,000 (£110,000) bond lowered.
