The US First Lady was speaking to a crowd of Donald Trump supporters at a rally event in Pennsylvania. Analysts have been commenting in recent times on Mrs Trump’s lack of public support for her husband at the crucial campaign events.

With this first such appearance, there is less than a week to go before the US goes to the polls to vote for the country’s next president.

Mrs Trump used her time on the podium to celebrate her husband’s achievements through his four-year term, as well as heavily criticise the president’s main Democrat rival, Joe Biden.

The First Lady said: “Joe Biden’s policy and socialist agenda will destroy America and all that has been built in the past four years.

“The Democrats have chosen to put their own agendas over the American people’s wellbeing. Instead, they attempt to create a divide.”

She also launched an attack on the attempted impeachment of her husband, which he was spared following Senate votes in February this year.

Mrs Trump said: “Let us also not forget what the Democrats chose to focus on when Covid-19 first came into our country.

“While the President was taking decisive action to keep the American people safe, the Democrats were wasting American taxpayer dollars in a sham impeachment.”

Mrs Trump did not specify any particular Democrat policies which she considered to be socialist.

In a lighter moment, the First Lady managed to draw laughs from the crowd by addressing her husband’s notorious use of social media platform Twitter.

She said: “I do not always agree with the way he says things, but it is important to him that he speaks directly to the people he serves.

“For the first time in history, the citizens of this country hear directly from their president through social media.”

Her comments came just hours after Twitter once again took action to hide one of the President’s tweets after concluding it “might be misleading”.

The president said: “Big problems and discrepancies with Mail In Ballots all over the USA. Must have final total on November 3rd.”

The tweet is now hidden behind a content warning, and visible statistics such as the number of likes and retweets have also disappeared.

Twitter cited a number of reports countering Mr Trump’s tweet, calling claims that mail-in voting leads to fraud “unsubstantiated”.

The social media platform added: “Voter fraud of any kind is rare in the US, including in states that have allowed mail-in voting for years, according to MarketWatch.”

Donald Trump has repeatedly criticised the mail-in voting system, claiming it leads to inaccurate election results.

His claims have been disputed by a number of media outlets as the US gears up to use postal voting more than usual amid the coronavirus pandemic.
