Melania Trump has cancelled a rare campaign appearance due to a cough, her spokeswoman has said.

She was meant to accompany US President Donald Trump to a rally in Eyrie, Pennsylvania tonight, October 20.

Her chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, said: “Mrs. Trump continues to feel better every day following her recovery from COVID-19, but with a lingering cough, and out of an abundance of caution, she will not be traveling today.”

Democratic nominee Joe Biden leads Trump in the state by 4 points, according to the RealClearPolitics polling average.

She announced she had recovered from Covid-19 last week.

Melanie was not hospitalised with the virus and said she had minimal symptoms.

She wrote on the White House website: “They hit me all at once and it seemed to be a rollercoaster of symptoms in the days after.

“I experienced body aches, a cough and headaches, and felt extremely tired most of the time.

“I chose to go a more natural route in terms of medicine, opting more for vitamins and healthy food.”
