The former First Lady of the United States was joined by Craig for the latest instalment of ‘The Michelle Obama Podcast’, in which the siblings detailed their childhood together. They grew up in Illinois, Chicago, with parents Fraser Robinson III and Marian Shields, before Michelle would go on to become one of the world’s most influential and recognisable women. And although Michelle is now a millionaire – and married to celebrated ex-US President Barack Obama – the 56-year-old continues to speak fondly of her life before fame and fortune arrived.
Speaking to Craig, the pair remembered how they would try to pay back the support they were given by Fraser and Marian by attempting to stop them smoking cigarettes.
The pair decided that they wanted to “break all their cigarettes” because they had been unable to convince them to kick the deadly habit.
After a couple of failed attempts, Craig explained that the siblings “dipped the cigarettes in lemon juice, and then put hot sauce on them” but this didn’t stop them from smoking.
Michelle recalled that they then took a last ditch approach to ensuring the cigarettes were gone by “crushing them”.
Craig said: “We broke two cartons worth, but the really, scary but funny thing about that whole thing was, when they got home, and they were looking for their cigarettes, and they were going around the house, and we’re sitting there, trying to look innocent.
“But, [we were] always thinking, it’s working, they won’t be able to smoke, they’re gone, this’ll be the end of it.”
Michelle replied: “They won’t know, they won’t notice, that their cigarettes are missing, and this’ll be it.
“Right they’ll be like Oh, well, can’t find our cigarettes, I guess we’re done with that bad habit.”

Yet Craig added: “And then finally, mom steps on the garbage can, and the top lifts up, and she’s [like], Frasier! Frasier! Get in here! Craig! Michelle! What is going on! Well, and by then, we were in tears, crying, like oops!”
The touching tale is just another reminder of the dedication to support others that has encapsulated her career in law, and front-line politics.
Throughout her time as FLOTUS, and since she and Barack left the White House after now-US President Donald Trump was elected leader, Michelle has championed numerous causes, including backing the Obamacare bill during her husband’s time in Washington.

Michelle Obama savaged by Donald Trump in new outburst as row erupts [UPDATE]
Her latest podcast comes at a crucial moment in US history, after she pleaded with the American electorate to vote for Democrat nominee Joe Biden, as opposed to Republican candidate Trump.
In a bitter spat, Trump responded to Michelle’s claims that he was the “wrong President” for the US.
Taking to Twitter, the US President said: “Somebody please explain to @MichelleObama that Donald J. Trump would not be here, in the beautiful White House, if it weren’t for the job done by your husband, Barack Obama.”
