As Kim Jong-un became emotional at the celebrations of the founding of the country’s communist party, new military hardware was paraded in front of his podium. The military hardware included one of the biggest ballistic missiles on the planet. North Korean observers were alarmed at the link between Kim Jong-un’s weeping and the devastating weapons the regime is developing.

At the military parade, fighter jets were roaring through the night sky and goose-stepping soldiers marched by.

Commenting on the show of force, one missile expert at the One Earth Future Foundation, Melissa Hanham, said: “Never underestimate North Korea.

“They are continually working to increase their defensive capability.

“The longer that we leave the door open, the longer they will continue to develop a nuclear missile program.”

The US sees North Korea’s decision to showcase a new ICBM as “disappointing”.

The North has not test-fired the new ballistic missile that was rolled-out.

Test-firing such a missile could lead to a harsh response from US President Trump who is in the middle of an election campaign.

Kim Jong-un at no point referred to the United States during his speech on the night of the celebration.

Pyongyang’s nuclear weapons and ballistic missile programs have made incredible strides under Kim Jong-un’s stewardship.

The regime showed off advanced military hardware as the country deals with the difficulties of recent flooding, the coronavirus pandemic, and US-led economic sanctions.

This led North Korean leader Kim Jon-un to weep on camera and promise to improve the lives of all North Koreans.

At the celebrations of the 70th anniversary of the North Korean communist party Kim Jong-un said: “Our people have placed trust, as high as the sky and as deep as the sea, in me, but I have failed to always live up to it satisfactorily.

“I am really sorry for that.

“Although I am entrusted with the important responsibility to lead this country upholding the cause of the great comrades Kim Il-sung and Kim Jong-il thanks to the trust of all the people, my efforts and sincerity have not been sufficient enough to rid our people of the difficulties in their lives.”
