Prince Archie skin colour comment referenced in new Netflix series, fans say

Royal fans reckon the controversy surrounding the alleged comment about Prince Archie's skin colour is referenced in Netflix's Bridgerton spin-off series Queen Charlotte.

Meghan Markle first discussed the comment during her interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021.

She said someone in the Royal Family had "concerns and conversations about how dark his [Archie's] skin might be when he was born". The Duchess of Sussex added: "That was relayed to me from Harry. Those were conversations that family had with him."

And now Queen Charlotte fans reckon those "concerns and conversations" are the basis of a scene in the new series.

Taking to Twitter to share stills from the series, one fan penned: "Queen Charlotte. The Meghan Markle / Archie 'what colour will the baby be' reference in this scene has me deceased. Shonda said, 'The Crown won’t cover it, but I will'."

The stills that accompanied the tweet read: "[Queen Mother]: She is very brown," to which the reply is: "I did say she had Moor blood, ma'am."

The Queen Mother says: "You did not say that she would be that brown."

"But I did say she had Moor blood," is the reply, with the Queen Mother adding: "Very brown."

Responding to the tweet, one person wrote: "I thought it was only me who realised this resemblance."

"I noticed that as well but was not sure if it was to do with Meghan or because of the racism in those times," added a second.

While a third penned: "Yes. Facts."

And a fourth said: "Yasss! Shonda is everything had me shooketh with that Meghan/Archie shade. Can't wait to see what else she has in store for us!"
