Prince George to star in Coronation despite William and Kate Middletons fears

Prince George is set to play a key role in King Charles III's Coronation despite fears from Prince William and Princess Kate.

Prince George of Wales, nine, was confirmed for an official role in the service and had been practising at Westminster Abbey earlier this month.

Taking up the task of Page of Honour, George will be one of four carrying out a key duty for his grandfather King Charles, MEN reported.

His role in the Coronation, which is to hold onto the back of Charles' robe, makes him the youngest future King to appear in an official Coronation service role, but his parents are worried.

Both the Prince and Princess of Wales were said to be strongly concerned about the role George would play in the Coronation.

Insiders suggested the Prince and Princess questioned whether George was too young to appear in the ceremony, although the pair were convinced when seeing George in his role, The Telegraph reported.

Both King Charles and Queen Camilla have four Pages of Honour each, with the King of England utilising George as one of the four.

He is also set to see Nicholas Barclay, 13, grandson of Sarah Troughton, Lord Oliver Cholmondeley, 13, and Ralph Tollemache, 12, represent his Pages of Honour.

Queen Camilla will see her three grandsons Gus, Louis and Freddy, all 13, as well as her great-nephew Arthur Elliot.

It leaves two of the Prince and Princess of Wales' children out of the service, with Charlotte and Louis deemed too young to take part.

Instead, the pair are expected to watch on as spectators to the event and will join their grandfather and Camilla on the balcony at Buckingham Palace to mark the end of the Coronation service.

They will also be joined by other members of the Royal Family including Prince William, Princess Kate and Princess Anne.
