Queen worried Prince Harry was perhaps a little over-in-love, book claims

The Queen was worried that Prince Harry was "a little over-in-love" with Meghan Markle, a bombshell new book claims.

Gyles Brandreth, an author, broadcaster and a friend of Prince Philip, makes the claim in his upcoming book Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait.

Brandreth also says that, despite the late monarch's concerns over Harry, she greeted Meghan into the Royal Family with open arms.

The book claims this was true of the rest of the Royal Family too, despite what Meghan told Oprah Winfrey in her tell-all interview.

An excerpt of the book was published by the Mail+.

In it, Brandreth said the Queen was delighted at the prospect of Harry marrying Meghan, but: "The only concern the Queen let slip in the early days of the Sussexes’ marriage was to wonder to a friend if Harry wasn’t ‘perhaps a little over-in-love’.

"This was as far as she came – to my knowledge at least – to ever uttering a word against the new Duchess of Sussex."

The Queen had apparently even suggested Meghan keep working as an actress as she was concerned about the Duchess' future happiness.

In his biography, Brandreth also claims the Queen died from bone marrow cancer.

Her Majesty's official cause of death was listed as "old age", but Brandreth wrote: "I had heard that the Queen had a form of myeloma — bone marrow cancer — which would explain her tiredness and weight loss and those ‘mobility issues’ we were often told about during the last year or so of her life."

The book also claims the Queen suffered periods of low energy, despite telling aides she was determined to stay busy after Philip's death in April last year.

When Her Majesty felt weaker she filled her time by watching BBC drama Line of Duty, the biographer claimed.
