Shuttles replacing RTD R-Line in Aurora between 13th Ave. Station and Florida Station

Shuttle buses are replacing the RTD R-Line in Aurora between 13th Avenue Station and Florida Station Thursday morning due to Wednesday’s train derailment.

RTD is still working to remove the derailed train and assess equipment to make sure it is functional, RTD spokesperson Christina Zazueta said, so there is no time frame on the line’s restoration yet.

“I would just recommend … for anybody looking to use the R-Line or use those services to consider either an alternative bus route or to make more time for the shuttle service,” Zazueta said.

An RTD light rail train derailed Wednesday afternoon at South Sable Boulevard and East Exposition Avenue, and at least three people were injured, according to emergency responders.

Zazueta said it could still be some time before RTD has results from the investigation into what caused the derailment Wednesday.
