Suspect fleeing Jefferson County deputies in stolen pickup careened into lake, divers search for suspect – The Denver Post
Divers are searching for a suspect’s body after the person allegedly stole a Toyota pickup and led Jefferson County deputies on a chase that apparently ended when the vehicle plunged into a lake late Wednesday night, officials said.
Divers discontinued their search in the lake during the night because they couldn’t find the suspect or the vehicle, said Trooper Josh Lewis a spokesman for the Colorado State Patrol.
A deputy spotted the stolen 2020 Toyota pickup truck at around 11 a.m. CSP troopers were called in to assist but were never involved in the chase, Lewis said.
The pursuit ended near Ken Caryl Avenue and Alkire Street when the stolen vehicle apparently careened into a lake, Lewis said Thursday morning.
Divers responded to the scene to search in the dark near a set of tire tracks leading into the water, Lewis said.
The water search began again Thursday morning in hopes that divers can find the suspect and the pickup in the light, Lewis said.
