Westminster woman suspected of killing unwanted house guest
A 25-year-old Westminster woman is suspected of killing an unwanted house guest early Sunday morning, police said.
Serena Ahmad is being held on suspicion of second-degree murder in the fatal shooting, which happened just after 12:30 a.m. at Ahmad’s home in the 3400 block of 112th Circle, according to Westminster police.
Ahmad got into a disagreement with her roommate about “some guests who were at the home,” police said, and asked the guests to leave. When they did not, she got a handgun and fired a single shot, striking and killing a man, police said.
He has not yet been identified.
Ahmad was arrested on scene without incident, investigator Cheri Spottke said.
She could not say whether Ahmad intended to kill the man when she fired the gun or who reported the shooting, and said the investigation is ongoing. Detectives will be in the neighborhood throughout the day Sunday but there is no ongoing danger to the public, police said.
Ahmad will be held at the Adams County detention facility.
